WILL WEEK 2024

Students will read The Merchant of Venice and create a Green Show performance inspired by the text! Green Shows were Elizabethan variety shows performed on "the green" outside the Globe Theatre to attract audience members to attend the Mainstage Performance. We are shifting to this model for a few reasons. #1- It's fun! It will allow students to explore various areas of interested more in depth (acting, writing, dancing, songwriting, etc.). #2- Given the more sensitive content and racial/religious representation in Merchant, we can have intentional conversations with the students about this material without asking them to step into their shoes. #3- Timeline! The Green Show model will allow us to create at a less stressful pace (4 days was FAST to mount a full show).  We will continue to have workshops and games covering text work, improv and more, alongside our professional company members!

Camp runs 10 AM- 4 PM, June 11th-14th (Tuesday-Friday) at the Grand Forks Public Library, with a performance taking place the evening of June 14th at Town Square. The students will perform their work before our Mainstage production of The Merchant of Venice!

Will Week is offered free of charge thanks to the Iseminger Foundation, the Myra Foundation and the City of Grand Forks ReGrant program. We can’t wait to work with your student!
